Sustainability: Sakhalin Energy won the National Award in Public Relations
Sakhalin Energy won the most prestigious Russian award in Public Relations – the “Silver Archer” National Award.
The “Silver Archer” award annually honours the best PR projects in Russia. The expert council of the “Silver Archer” competition includes the most respected Russian PR specialists.
Over 60 PR projects and programmes, undertaken by domestic and foreign companies in Russia in 2008, entered the 2008 competition for the national award. The ceremony took place in Moscow on 28 January and was attended by some 500 PR professionals.
Sakhalin Energy nominated its range of social projects realised on Sakhalin Island for the award. The projects, presented by the Company under a common programme – “Breaking the Stereotype”, are aimed at strengthening corporate reputation and winning the trust of the people on the Island where the Sakhalin II project is being implemented. Sakhalin Energy’s entry presentation described in detail the Company’s contribution to the improvement of education, healthcare and road safety on the Island, as well as charitable projects such as the Company employees’ initiative – the Hurry Up for Good Deeds programme, and many others. The main focus of the entry were two of the Company’s projects that had attracted lots of public attention – the celebration of Oil and Gas Workers’ Day and the “Everybody should know – Safety is important!” campaign whose main character is Senya – a cartoon hero created by Sakhalin Energy.
“We see our victory in the competition for this prestigious national award in Public Relations as recognition of the social achievements of Sakhalin Energy – a company that pays a lot of attention to the sustainable development of the region for the benefit of its people”, - said Sakhalin Energy Government Relations and External Affairs Director Igor Ignatiev. “The credit for this award truly belongs to each of the Company’s employees, who really care about the public good”.
