Explore Sakhalin-2 Project
Sakhalin Energy is delivering a groundbreaking oil and gas project - the Sakhalin-2 Project. This project involves the development of two offshore fields: Piltun-Astokhskoye (containing mostly oil with some free gas and cap gas) and Lunskoye (containing mostly gas with some condensate and considered among the largest in the world).
To accelerate the commencement of the Sakhalin-2 development, Sakhalin Energy proposed a phased approach to the Project implementation.
The implementation of Phase 1 began with large-scale prospecting and exploration activities in the Piltun-Astokhskoye field, including seismic surveys and the drilling of prospecting and exploration wells between 1986 and 2000. The PÀ-À (Molikpaq) platform, which began to produce oil in July 1999, was installed in the Sakhalin shelf in 1998.
Full-field development of the Sakhalin-2 Project involved:
- two new offshore platforms,
- onshore pipelines to carry oil and gas to the south of the Island,
- an onshore processing facility (OPF),
- a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant and
- offloading terminals for crude oil and LNG.
